Mission
The purpose
of this website on consumer privacy, e-commerce and data protection
is to serve as an online global information resource for the global
community. The primary goals of PrivacyExchange are
to:
- Provide
timely information on national data protection laws, regulations,
standards and practices to the many thousands of small, medium and
large sized businesses around the world concerned about how to handle
their trans-border consumer and employee data activities, and also
how to operate their worldwide websites in ways consistent with accepted
consumer privacy standards.
- Collect
and distribute model policies, agreements and codes of leading businesses
and industry associations that can be used by companies and organizations
in their global data operations, conduct and post empirical studies
of how such policies have been treated by data protection authorities.
- Encourage
and expand international dialogue on consumer services and privacy
protection by posting papers, presentations, and statements reflecting
different outlooks regarding these issues.
